Northern Lights in the Community!

In addition to the annual Scandinavian Festival, we love to get out and perform for our community and local area. Here’s what we’ve been up to recently:

In December of 2025, members of Nordurljos participated in the second annual Yule Fest, hosted by the Scandinavian Cultural Foundation of Junction City.

Dancers walked in the annual Light Parade, attended a Community Dance later that evening, and performed for festival-goers several times over the weekend.

Since 2023, Nordurljos has performed at the annual Festival of Trees in Eugene, Oregon. The Festival of Trees serves as a fundraiser for Cascade Hospice, and we are proud to be affiliated with this meaningful organization. This year, the group even got to pose for a picture with Santa and Mrs. Claus!

Scandinavian Festival 2025:
The Nordurljos dance year culminates with the Junction City Scandinavian Festival, an event that the group has performed at since its inception.

Nordurljos has become a regular participant at the Lane County Fair in July, having performed on the Community Stage since 2023.

In May of 2024, Nordurljos members had the opportunity to perform at a local school, as part of a local history presentation. In the weeks following, directors Jeff and Jessica Peterson returned to the school and taught the student body dance during P.E. classes.

Nordurljos has volunteered as servers and have performed at the annual benefit dinner and auction for the Scandinavian Cultural Foundation since its inception in 2006.
